With a network of over 60,000 partner farmers and a state-of-the-art extraction facility in Madagascar, we operate a fully integrated value chain, from cultivation to extraction. Our production and extraction facility has an annual capacity of 7 000 MT of plant materials and can process various solvents, including liquid gas.
Thanks to rigorous crop monitoring and the work of our R&D laboratory, every essential oil we produce is 100% pure, stable, and compliant with international standards for the cosmetics, food, and fragrance industries.
With our in-house R&D department and laboratory, we can develop custom extracts tailored to your specific needs. Additionally, we offer production services under tolling agreements. With a team of skilled chemical engineers, we can develop custom extracts to meet your needs, guiding you through every stage from initial R&D, through pilot testing, and all the way to full industrial scale production.
Research and Development
Our custom formulation service is built on deep expertise in research and development, enabling us to create tailor-made solutions that meet the specific needs of cosmetic, nutraceutical, food, aroma, fragrance, and pharmaceutical brands. From raw material selection to formula stability, we support every step with scientific precision.

Our production and extraction facility has an annual capacity of 7,000 MT of plant materials and can process various solvents, including liquid gas. We offer clients the possibility to use our equipment and resources under a tolling agreement.

We are committed to improving the lives and resilience of smallholder farmers by providing them with a secure and diversified source of income, year-round. We are also proud to develop local talent, with 98% of our employees being Malagasy.
Sustaining biodiversity
Within our farmer network, we promote organic agriculture and distribute trees. Our factory is currently pursuing ISO 14001 certification. We also actively collaborate with clients to explore alternatives to solvents that are not eco-friendly
Our Story
Bionexx’s journey began in 2005 when artemisinin was selected by the WHO to treat malaria. The first phase of the project involved establishing the agricultural sector in Madagascar, followed by the acquisition of an extraction and purification site meeting international standards and the construction of a dedicated workshop for artemisinin production.
With a network of over 20,000 producers, Bionexx produces approximately 20 tons of artemisinin crystals annually, providing daily availability of artemisinin for 100,000 treatments (allowing 100,000 people to treat malaria daily). Bionexx is currently among the top 10 global artemisinin producers and the only one not located in China.
In recent years, Bionexx has expanded its offer beyond artemisinin, enhancing Madagascar’s unique flora through a range of plant extracts.
2005 : Our Beginning
Bionexx was founded in 2005 with the aim to use artemisinin to treat malaria.
2008 : Our factory
Acquisition of the industrial site, historically known as the Indena Madagascar site.
2013 : Production
After years of research, the first artemisinin crystals were obtained at a commercial scale.
2018 : Diversification
Bionexx becomes Madagascar’s largest exporter of Centella leaves, showcasing the island’s unique botanical richness.
2025 - Global Recognition
Bionexx joins AIM as a member, while standing as the largest extraction facility in the Indian Ocean (7000 MT/year).
